Time. We can't make it or grow it and there is never enough of it, however next week I will miraculously have more as I officially become an empty nester. With both of my girls living in New York City, my garden can finally take center stage. If only time could go back to the physical state I knew when I was 18! There's time's trick; we have more later in life but less in each day that we can devote to strenuous activity.

This brings me to what I am devoting my down-time to: reading all of the books I've collected over the years on cooking and gardening while trying to figure out how I can accomplish my fantastic horticultural dreams with an economy of effort and time. I've noticed that the latest in gardening method discards the exhausting and physically challenging French double-dug intensive method of preparing the soil in favor of an almost casual tickling of the top layer and planting with no disturbance of the soil layers beneath. Would it were applicable to my brick-like, clay soil. I'm still dragging out my old 14hp tiller to make a dent during bed preparation while incorporating my neighbor Mark's generous gift of composted horse manure as I go.

To fulfill my promise to put up the recipes from my demos at Bucks Beautiful and A Garden Faire, check out the recipe section. As my husband, Lewis, learns to navigate and build this site and I become more disciplined in sitting down to write, we will be adding to each section every few days; so check back regularly!

Now if only the soil would dry out...
